Sedgefield is situated midway between George and Knysna, in the Cape Garden Route.

Approximately 5 hours drive from Cape Town, with the closest airport at George a 30 min drive away.

The Garden Route has a Mediterranean Maritime climate; moderately hot summers, mild to chilly winters.

It is one of the richest rainfall areas in South Africa. Most of the rains occurs in the winter months, brought on by the humid sea-winds from the Indian ocean. The Garden Route's temperate weather falls between two climatic regions of summer and winter rainfall so it rains mostly at night which keeps the area perennially green.

Spring: September/October.

Summer: November & March are warmer, December to February has mid-summer daily temperatures of about 24-30ÂșC.

Autumn: April to June.

Winter: June, July and August. The days are often bright and warm, but cold in the evening.

Its a haven of outdoor opportunities from gentle beach walks, birdwatching and hiking to windsurfing, paragliding and mountain biking. Its an ideal area for watersport enthusiasts surrounded by lakes, rivers and ocean.

There are 5 magnificent beaches, one from the river mouth (where the Sandpiper Nature Reserve & Beach Estate is situated) to Myoli and Cola. Buffalo Bay (20 min drive from the Estate), Platbank and Swartvlei Beach next to the famous Gericke's Point.

Fishing is extremely popular (licences available from the local post office or Sedgefield Sports), rock, surf with flyfishing, deep sea and surf/rock fishing.

Golf popular along the garden route can be played at the many well established courses from Plettenburg bay through to Mossel Bay.

Tennis, squash, canoeing, horse riding, golf and paragliding, are some of the many easily available acivities. Hiking and Trail walks are available along the coast or in the indigenous forest.

Sedgefield has a few marine protected areas and nature reserves and is a hotspot for bird watching with many species to enjoy. At certain times of the year, the pink flamingos can be seen on the lagoon.

Sedgefield has a good selection of restaurants and shops to entertain close to home. But with Knysna a 20 min drive away and the large Garden Route Mall in George, a mere 30 km in the opposite direction, you have everything you could need from a tiny curio to a large department store.
